These ships are the workhorses of any shipyard. Navy Tugs are most often found hauling construction barges across the Empire or pulling Weapon Barges into place. They are not suited to combat at all, but can sometimes use their powerful engines to pull an enemy into the range of powerful base guns.
Overview[]
A tough little ship with very little firepower, and immensely powerful engines. The Tug is mainly used for towing allied ships to safety after they lost all their sails or engines, or to anchor enemies with the Harpoons and drag them a limited distance.

Battle Strategy[]
The Tug's main advantage comes from its powerful engines. Putting the best engineers on board is advisable. You can try to pull enemy ships close to base cannons, into Black Holes, or away from tenders, and ports. The problem with this is that the rope will snap, and thus you will only be able to pull them so far, making this inadvisable. You can make this easier by equipping an Energy Net to reduce the enemy ships engine power, which will make it easier to drag enemy ships around without the rope snapping, but it still will only go so far. However, you can still give your derelict allies a hand by towing them to tenders and ports. This ship is uniquely suited to this job due to its enormously high engine thrust, allowing you to pull any ship in the game. Alternatively, a player can make use of the Tug's durable hull, and use it as a ramming ship. Since the tug also has a deceptively giant mass (this is due to its massive engine thrust), this makes it deal huge amounts of ramming damage, even against larger ships. This ship is also very well suited to towing a Weapon Barge (or more than one) around, and therefore removing its only downside of a lack of mobility. You can, if you want, replace the Medium Carronade at the front for either an Energy Net, or Grav Charge for increased supportive abilities. Otherwise, it is most likely best to simply replace it with the cheapest option to save costs.
Counter-Tactics[]
You shouldn't worry about these if you ever see one. Only target them if they are causing massive amount of trouble by pulling your ships out of position, which is unlikely. Remember that despite being small it has a high mass, so avoid getting rammed.
