This small, fast, and highly manoeuvrable attack ship is basically a Longboat with two torpedo tubes set against the outside of the hull. The Laser Torpedoes give it serious firepower for its size, but it must keep dodging in combat as even a few heavy shells can cripple this tiny ship.
Overview[]
An extremely fast and manoeuvrable ship. The Torpedo Boat has very powerful long range Torpedoes on a long cooldown. This makes it a poking or harassment ship that would stay at range where it is nearly impossible to hit, while firing Torpedoes at the enemy from a distance, wearing them down over time.
Summary[]
Pros[]
- Great firepower for a small ship.
- Very fast.
- Great manoeuvrability.
- Inexpensive, the least expensive Imperial ship.
Cons[]
- Very poor firepower when the Torpedo Tubes are reloading.
- Very weak hull.
- Vulnerable if its sail is destroyed.
- Ineffective against ships with many point-defence Lancers.
- No point-defence.

Battle Strategy[]
Use the ship's Light Lancer to disable enemy sails while pounding your torpedoes into their engines. An option is to replace the Light Lancer with a Laser Gatling Gun in order to destroy sails faster, though doing so will make you have to get closer, where you are in greater danger to taking damage, which you absolutely must avoid as you have extremely low hull strength. An alternative is to install a Light LaserBall Cannon instead, as this weapon costs nothing, saving you 4 victory points. Due to the already low cost of the ship, this would result in approximately a 21% reduction in cost (which means roughly every 5 torpedo boats you buy, you can get 1 extra). Considering the main purpose of this ship is long ranged torpedo strikes, you will most likely not make use of using the secondary light weapon very often (not to mention the fact that the cannon has longer range anyway). Therefore, it could be argued that the light cannon is the most cost efficient load out for this ship. However, weapon refunding could be considered an exploit. The Lancer is still effective as what is probably the most impactful choice if you have to get in close range combat frequently.
Counter-Tactics[]
You must try to prevent this ship from creating distance: this can be done by destroying its only sail and closing in to finish it off. Make sure you take these out early on, otherwise they can cause a massive amount of damage; unless, of course, you have a significant amount of point defense at your disposal, in which case the threat these provide is very limited.
