Mousetrap is an Open Skirmish between Privateers working for the Terran Empire, and the Procyon Navy. Mousetrap allows between 2 to 8 players to participate. Every odd numbered player will be on the Pirate side, where as every even numbered player will be on the Procyon side. The objective of the Procyons is to destroy the Pirate base, Camp Strongbox, where as the Pirates' objective is to defend their base. The Pirates win if they eliminate all Procyon ships that are not part of the reserve fleet, where as the Procyons win if they destroy the Pirate base, or eliminate all Pirate ships.

Map Description[]

After a number of privateer raids, the Procyon Navy finally tracked down a secret pirate base deep in the Procyon Expanse. While the Procyons have the pirates outgunned, the pirates have a heavily armed base at their backs.

Geography[]

Mousetrap features a dense archipelago called The Blackheart Belt, on the eastern side of the map, and an asteroid belt and a few islands on the western side. The Pirate base, Camp Strongbox is located at the northern part of the map, where as the Procyon Reserve Fleet is at the southern area. The main open area halfway between the Pirate base and the Procyon Reserve Fleet is where most of the combat takes place.

Trivia[]

  • Camp Strongbox also appears in Convoy Raid. However this is clearly not the same base as the one in Mousetrap, as the surrounding area and base are different, and the Pirates in Convoy Raid are raiding Terran ships, which the Mousetrap Pirates wouldn't do as they work for the Terran Empire as privateers.
  • Two of the Procyon reserve ships use Ironclad names (Nova Mace and Frost Knife), despite the fact they are not Ironclads. However, they use more conventional Procyon ship names in the files (PSR Nova Bear and PSR FalKorum, respectively).
  • The music changes if the Pirates move close enough to the Procyon Reserve Fleet.
