The Heavy Scout ship is based on the obsolete Discovery Class Frigate hull. While most of these ships were sold to private citizens, a few of the hulls were converted into scout command ships. While not up on par of modern Frigates, it has good speed and range, and the communication gear needed to keep in touch with Sloops on patrol.
Overview[]
An extremely powerful medium sized brawler ship. The Heavy Scout has a powerful Torpedo at the bow for softening enemies up before blowing them away with a huge broadside of cannon fire.

Battle Strategy[]
This is one of the most cost efficient ships in the game. Compared to all other ships of similar costs, it has massively more broadside capabilities, not to mention the forward facing Torpedo. A Fast Frigate, for example, costs more, and only has 3 Medium Cannons per broadside. This ship has 4 Medium Cannons and 3 Light Cannons per broadside. Another advantage of this ship is the abnormally high mass that allows for powerful ramming. The main way to use this ship is to fire a torpedo from range, then close in and overwhelm whatever you are up against with brute force from your broadside guns. No other ship of similar cost is able to stand toe to toe with this ship, so you should always come out on top. Against larger ships, you can still deal a threatening amount of damage, but it is still best to stay at range, making use of the torpedo and your greater speed. The only other ship of this cost that competes with this ship is the Pirate Barque, which offers far greater durability and boarding capabilities, but nowhere near the amount of firepower of the Heavy Scout.
Counter-Tactics[]
Avoid the Heavy Scout's broadside if possible, no ship of a similar cost can stand toe to toe with it like that. If you stay behind or in front of it, you are better off. Destroying the Heavy Scout's sails will prevent it from being able to turn as easily, making it easier to stay behind the Heavy Scout, where it has the least firepower. Another option can be focusing your fire against the front hull to destroy it first. Since this section's durability is tied to half of the medium guns, the torpedo tube and two of the light laser cannons, the firepower of the ship will be crippled if you manage to blow it up.
